FALL QUARTER SUNDAY SCHOOL

THE CREATIVE WORK OF GOD

A study in Genesis 1—11; Job

This Fall quarter will focus on “The Creative Work of God.” The first eight lessons will take the student from the beginning of God’s creation, Adam and Eve, Noah, the flood, man’s failure and God’s judgment, up to the birth of Abraham in Genesis 11. In the Winter quarter the subject of study will be Genesis 12—50.

The final five lessons of the Fall quarter will center on the book of Job. Most scholars agree that the book of Job is the oldest in the Bible and probably the oldest book in the world. The book of Job was probably written before the days of Abraham, so it is fitting to approach its study during the likely chronological time of its writing. The lessons will focus on Job and his relationship to God, people and events: Job and his trials, Job and his friends, Job and Elihu, Job and Jehovah and Job and the end of his life. The study of Job should be especially applicable to our needs.
